
Attributed to Jakob Maris (1837-1899) "The Bridge to Utrecht" Oil on canvas on board, 9.75" x 16" unframed, circa 1860 This piece, although not signed, is believed to be the product of the great 19th century Dutch artist Jakob Maris, whose formal name is Jakobus Hendrikus Maris. The artist was a member of the Hague School and a very influential artist of the 19th century. He is famous for his renditions of canals and bridges, as is depicted in this piece. Jakob Maris is a highly collected artist with one of his paintings hanging in the Frick Museum in New York. He is listed extensively and has extensive auction records. |
