This master artist was born in Belgium and lived in
The Hague. He was the
student of the famous romantic painter Anreas Schelfhout and is best
known for his landscapes. His watercolors are rare and valuable. This
piece is not only an exquisit example of Destree's talents as a watercolorist,
it is an unusually large watercolor for Destree, adding to its value.
The piece is approximately 150 years old and in excellent condition.
Destree is listed in Davenports, Artprice, Mallett, Art Sales Index,
Benezit and numerous other international publications. He has extensive
and powerful auction records. This piece would be a valuable addition
